Electric Composter

Overview

Electric composters (dry type) carry out sanitization by creating an environment in which microorganisms cannot survive through the application of warm air during agitation to remove moisture from and pulverize waste. At the same time, the volume of waste is greatly reduced.

The exhaust is processed by a catalytic or other type of deodorizing device to suppress odors. The processed waste can also be used as organic fertilizer, which is one reason that electric composters have gained the spotlight as an environmentally-friendly solution.

Functions include a drying function that uses warm air to reduce the volume of waste, an agitator for increasing aeration and thus the efficiency of drying by warm air, a pulverizing function for reducing the volume of dried waste, and a deodorizing function for suppressing odors so that the electric composter can be used indoors.

Renesas offers the R8C/3x Series and the 78K0/xxx Series with built-in A/D converter for sensor input as control MCUs for electric composters.

Renesas also has a rich lineup of TRIACs and other devices for controlling heaters, motors, and so on, to meet a variety of needs.
